Psych project

Post by MaudDib125 »

For my psych class I need to get a few pieces of information from people about life events. Its an easy 3 questions and you can either post the answers here or PM/e-mail me them. You have till Sunday evening/Monday morning to have it done. At that point this post will be locked.

Questions
1. What is a life changing experience based on your age. IE getting a license at 16, drinking at 21, etc. A life change based upon society's age restrictions that showed your of age.

2. A life changing event that is historical in society such as Vietnam which changed not just you but society

3. A life changing event that while is more on a major scale is more personal based. IE death of a friend or family member, affects you and a small group but not society as a whole necessarily

Interesting topic Mike
1. On my 21st birthday I signed up for dealing school, then after a ehhem... field trip to Houston Tx and getting a job as a talent scout I had realized that I could have a great carreer in either entertainment or the casino industry.

2. 9 mother f***in 11

3. Couldn't narrow it down to one. My psyche is a little too complex for a broad spectrum of individual milestones.

Well more recently I remember when Brenda White Died, from that moment I figgured that I would try to be a little less umm vindictive, serious, less of an asshole. Take your pick. I harbored so much contempt for her sister at one time but I had to let it go because I just remember her loving life in general. I started taking more of a lighthearted approach to things in her memory. This is also when I got the idea of my stallion tattoo to give me the power to keep running.

RIP Brenda.... I'll see you when I get there *toast to the air* :alcoholic:

At 17 it was my Drivers License, 18 was becoming an Adult, and 21 was being able to legally drink and gamble. As far as it goes now, it's just age. The 10's will be big though.

I think I would have to say that 18 was the most life changing since that's about the time that utter chaos ruled my life.

9-11 as well as this war over in Iraq.

The loss of Brenda white was a shocker since it was someone that I knew, as well as the loss of Devin Wallace. Both people were my friends that I hung out with regularly at NJROTC and it's so weird when you think about it....that they are gone.

Another personal thing would be living with my disabled Grandmother. It has been teaching me a lot of lessons in life. As my mom and I like to put it, I'm going through some trials of life.

Well, I wish I could claim that I got my liscence at 16, but unfortunately I didn't get mine until I was 20..oh yeah...GO ME!! So, I guess 18 was a turning point...I got to vote...well I was able to vote...I still haven't ever used that privelage though. I do remember buying my first lotto ticked when I turned 18! Hmm...well when I turned 21 I gambled for my first time...lost a whole 75 cents (big spender, i know...) And I had a couple of drinks, nothing too dramatic though. (I drank more in high school, and my freshman year in college..but even then it wasn't a whole lot...)
2. A life changing event that is historical in society such as Vietnam which changed not just you but society
Well, i guess the popular answer is 9-11, but I think a more affecting thing was Columbine and the many stories that came out of and from that. It definately changed the way a lot of people thought about violence in schools, I mostly remember the "gun drills" or whatever they were that we had to go through just in case it happened at STHS.
3. A life changing event that while is more on a major scale is more personal based. IE death of a friend or family member, affects you and a small group but not society as a whole necessarily.
Yeah, I'd have to say hearing about Brenda and Melinda was definately a shock, so was Devin, even though I didn't know him very well. Out of the three, I was closest to Melinda, she was such a neat girl. I wish I would have kept in touch with her on some level after high school. I just hope and pray they are all in a better place, wherever that may be.

Ha ha I remember laughing and joking through those. I got sent to Mr Romagnolo's office cause I didn't want to hide under my desk, I remember they turned off the lights and we were supposed to all be quiet. I remember telling someone next to me that fiberboard wouldn't hold up to a bullet so we might as well just jump around and wave at the guy, and if they really were scared he should put me by the door so I could stick whoever was causing trouble. Mr Filce didn't find that funny.... :P 8)

LOL, he may not of, but I do!!! That's stinkin' hilarious!! Seriuosly though, what kind of shield were those desks anyway? I think as far as in a survival situation, your method would work much better than the pieces of crap we used as shields....

-Havn't dealt with this one yet really I still can't drive turning 18 didn't change anything in my life and I'm not quite 21 yet, closest I can come is needing my parents to sign for me to be in te navy because I wasn't 18 yet. which is kinda the oposite of what your asking

2. A life changing event that is historical in society such as Vietnam which changed not just you but society
-well I was in boot for 9-11, I got to see everything change on the spot, that was that was 4-3 day at boot camp just about halfway through everything on the base changed in less than half an hour

3. A life changing event that while is more on a major scale is more personal based. IE death of a friend or family member, affects you and a small group but not society as a whole necessarily
-Devon Wallace, no further comment

A: Got license at 17. Then turned 18, and bought yellow jackets for someonw who was 17, and almost got suspended the last week of school. I hate being an adule, now I have to try to be responcible and stuff.
2. A life changing event that is historical in society such as Vietnam which changed not just you but society
A: 9-11, changer our society, I still believe for the best. It made us all aware of what could happen, if we let down our guard again. It changed me, cause it felt like my first born baby died. To this day I cant watch those planes hit the towers, it sacres me to much. To show that I love amreica and the towers, I got the twin towers tattooed on my leg so they will forever live in my heart.
3. A life changing event that while is more on a major scale is more personal based. IE death of a friend or family member, affects you and a small group but not society as a whole necessarily
A: They day Deven Wallace killed himself, everybody knew him. He was a great guy that was always nice to me. Most of high school I was treated like crap, but Deven was always nice to me, and helped me with anything work that needed to be done.
